Chappeli
Easy shoreline access at Aegerisee with fish-rich shallows and an interesting clay drop-off around 20 m.
Location on map
Chappeli is a popular Aegerisee dive site near Oberaegeri, known for a straightforward shoreline entry and scenic surroundings. It is suitable for divers with some lake-diving experience and is also used for night dives.
Entry & Exit
Entry is below the chapel area, either over larger stones or via the gravel beach. Exit is typically at the same point.
Dive description
From entry, follow the ridge toward southeast. Around 20 m, you reach a clay drop-off (about 10 m high) that forms the main underwater feature. In the shallow zone, pike, perch, and crayfish are commonly seen.
Longer variant
If you dive 20 minutes in direction Sattel (left from entry), you’ll find an underwater stream bed, in deeper parts (under 30 meters) you can find burbots - especially at night in winter. From November to January, you can also find there lake chars, if you’re lucky (they are pretty rare).
Parking
Parking is directly nearby (limited spaces). Access is usually convenient, but arrive early on busy summer days.
Hazards
- Low visibility can affect orientation at depth
