Navigate with Google Maps

Eichwald, known also as Wreck Brunno, is a diving spot where a small transport ship was sank, as an attraction for divers. This is a very popular spot for beginners, because it’s easy to enter and to navigate.

Entry & Exit

A metal staircase makes entry very easy. Water is very shallow, so you can put your fins on while staying stable on ground.

Go to 4-5 meters and dive right from entry, you’ll find a rope that leads to wrack. Another rope is located left from entry, near the pier for transport ship.

Frog / toad mating ground

On the other side of the pier, near the street tunnel, there’s a very shallow plateau, which is mating ground for toads and frogs in spring. Danger you need to dive under an active route used by a transport ship. Never dive up in free water without checking if the ship is in service, always take SMB.

Extended version

If you’re advanced diver, you can do extended version. You dive under the pier, like to the mating ground, but dive further. About 10 minutes from entry you’ll see big stone rubble, with a lot of big boulders. After about 20 minutes, you’ll see big trees, if you dive under, there’s a vertically standing conifer tree at about 36 meters.

At the end of May, I've visited dive spot Eichwald to see, how tapdpoles are doing. They have already hatched and were swarming in the Eichwald.
