Tadpoles Eichwald 2026

At the end of May, I've visited dive spot Eichwald to see, how tapdpoles are doing. They have already hatched and were swarming in the Eichwald.

The Reuss between Sins and Bremgarten is a mix of open landscape and the riparian woodland. It is an area populated by many birds and especially the last part before Bremgarten is a hotspot for bird watchers, with many observation posts.

Reuss with length of 164 km is 4th biggest river in Switzerland. It is also a great hiking destination, because for almost full length it's accompanied by the hiking trails.

Türlersee

Türlersee is a small lake (0.49 km2) on the foot of Albis mountain. With maximal depth of 22 meters and average depth of 13 meters, it's very flat. It is a great recreational area, because the only boot traffic on the lake are the fisher boats and muscle propelled vessels.

DAN study on identification of DCS risk factors in recreational diving

DAN hast published a study on identification of DCS risk factors in recreational diving, based on their database of diving accidents (version 07/2024). Many results of that study are agaist the previous state of knowledge. The biggest risk factor of DCS according to this study is being female. The risk factor of obesity confronts the actual state of knowledge. Moderate obesity is lowering the probability of DCS, compared to normal or lean body build. It's very important to notice, that the study analyses only existing data, so it's based on correlation, not causation.

When I travel, I love exploring the vicinity on foot. Most of my travels are now dedicated to scuba diving, but I try to always find time for short hikes or slow runs. Gozo, known also as the european Mecca of scuba diving, has beautiful shores and interesting landscapes.

Achim Schlöffel - Life and deatch under water

I've read a book about Achim Schlöffel, the extreme diver who dived under the La Manche Channel. The title is already very special, because in Enlish, it's called 'A life under water', but in German original, it's called 'Diving with Death' or 'Death dives together'. Both title combined matches the spirit of the life of Achim - his life is dedicated to the underwater, but he has numerous encounters with death.

Chlausenegg Apr 2026

I've visited Chlausenegg at the end of April 2026. I've heard that the sight is excelent, and the water was really crystal clear.

Rheinau catfish dive - late April 2026

Dive place Rheinau Alte Zollbrücke is known for catfishes, that have there their rest places. This part of the Rhine river is cut off from main water current by the nearby water plant. Most of the water is directed to the water plant, and only the remains are flowing through the river bend around Rheinau. Usually, there's only a minimal current.
