1. First contact
My first contact with diving was late, random and not spectacular. I was a part of online game Ingress, and one of fellow players has built his ‘fortesses’ far apart the reach of opposite group. He said it’s because he’s diving and therefore visiting very remote locations many hours of ride from Warsaw. Exploring hidden places sound very appealing for me, but not enough appealing for that moment.
2. Second contact - Switzerland
During my stay in Switzerland, I was cycling a lot, especially around lakes. I was seeing groups of divers preparing for dive on a regular basis, and found it interesting, because it was something you can do even if it’s raining - cycling in rain wasn’t that fun for me.
3. Apocalypse now - when fear was ruling the world
You certainly know what I’m thinking of. Suddenly, the fear has taken over and government has closed all borders and hardware stores. I found myself not being able to visit my relatives, and having much less to do with the free time. It was exactly the moment to start new hobby.
4. First certification and experiences
And I’ve done it. I’ve made my open water with Tauchclub Zug, and for some time I’ve dived with them. I’ve also made my first specialities with Tauch Treff Steinhausen and joined their Saturday diving.
5. My journey as recreational diver
After some time, sport dives were not enough for me. There was much more to discover under 40 meters, so I’ve made Extended Range certification with SSI and changed my diving configuration to doubles. I kept diving on regular basis, and I’ve opened year 2026 with over 600 dives.
