Eichwald, known also as Wrack Brunno, is a diving spot where a small transport ship was sank, as an attraction for divers. This is a very popular spot for beginners, because it’s easy to enter and to navigate.

Entry & Exit

A metal staircase makes entry very easy. Water is very shallow, so you can put your fins on while staying stable on ground.

Go to 4-5 meters and dive right from entry, you’ll find a rope that leads to wrack. Another rope is located left from entry, near the pier for transport ship.

Lake Lucerne

Lake Lucerne (German: Vierwaldstaettersee) lies in central Switzerland at the northern edge of the Alps and borders the cantons of Lucerne, Uri, Schwyz, Nidwalden, and Obwalden. According to Wikipedia, it covers about 113.6 km2, reaches a maximum depth of about 214 m, and sits at roughly 434 m above sea level. Its distinctive fjord-like, branching shape comes from glacially carved valleys and includes several connected basins such as Urnersee, Gersauersee, and the Lucerne basin.

Rütenen is a great diving spot on the southern side of Lake Lucerne, in Beckenried. It has a lot of parking spots and a lot of attractions.

Entry & Exit

There are 2 possible entries, one is behind the restaurant, another behind big head statue. Bot have stairs that allow relatively easy entry.

Underwater profile

There’s a large plateua along the coast. It’s a belowed mating ground for toads and frogs in spring. The stone wall goes deep below sport diving limits. Large part of it is smooth like kitchen table - diving along is a very special experience. There’s a lot of construction equipment that was sank there after the highway was finished. The most spectacular is a huge conveyor.

Entry & Exit

Use stone stairs vis-a-vis eastern part of the parking area, then go to water through the stones. Alternatively, you can enter on the beach area (in summer season, using it for divers is not allowed until 20:00).

Underwater profile

Big plateau with a lot of seagrass up to 10 meters, full of fishes in summer and toad mating grounds in spring. Ideal for beginner divers.

Entry & Exit

2 possible entries. One near the small house, requires climbing through rocks, but you land directly on stone wall. Another between trees on the southern side, at the end of parking space, much easier to go in and out.

Riedsort

Place description

Riedsort is a nice diving spot. Eastern entry is good for beginners - flat shallow plateau is safe for dive and is a good place for exercises.

Western entry is for advanced divers. It has deep stone walls. There’s a geocache on 35 meters. It’s also a longer walk - consider taking a cart, especially in summer.

Sealife is limited - no seagrass, perches in the deep.

Eastern entry: metal stairs a bit east from parking place. Shallow entry - easy for beginners.

Zugersee

Zugersee is a 38 km² lake in central Switzerland, offering excellent freshwater diving opportunities. A lot of stone walls, that are especially impressing in the Walchwil area.

Dive conditions

The visibility around thermocline is often very limited, and sediments often go up to 30m, but under 30m good sight is almost guaranteed.
Water temperature: 4°C (winter) to 22°C (summer)
Best season: Year-round (drysuit required Nov-May, recommended whole year)

Security information

Zugersee has often extreme thermoclines. Sometimes the transition between warm and cold water is almost immediete - cold shock risk. Cold showers and sauna help to prepare your body for quick water temperature changes.
